Anthony Pateras is an Australian composer, pianist, and electronic musician based in Djaara/Castlemaine. Since 1999, he has developed an extensive body of work spanning contemporary composition, improvisation, electronic music, and spatial sound.
His practice explores polytemporality, psychoacoustic phenomena, electroacoustic ensembles, and rule-based improvisation, presented internationally through solo performances, collaborations, and ensemble projects.
His music has been performed by leading institutions and ensembles including the LA Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonieorchester Basel, and the International Contemporary Ensemble.
He has received commissions from INA-GRM, Südwestrundfunk, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Festival Archipel, and Apartment House, among many others.
A recipient of the ZKM Giga-Hertz Production Prize and a Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship, Pateras has also undertaken residencies at Akademie Schloss Solitude, Cité des Arts, and La Becque.
